‘In the early days, I had always thought that somewhere, somehow, someone was holding on waiting for us to rescue them. It’s not uncommon for people to survive for as much as 5 to 7 days in similar situations such as earthquakes. That was not the case here. There was one soul survivor found.’ September 11, 2001.

Background

Ed Walsh is retired FDNY and a Veteran of 9/11 who worked painstakingly, and tirelessly, searching for the remains of innocent souls with his crew for 10 months after the tragic events at ground zero. During this time he captured images with 2 disposable Kodak cameras. Now, 21 years later, he wants to close this chapter and he decided to sell the collection as NFTs on the Cardano Blockchain. The purpose is to keep the history of 9/11 engraved on the Blockchain - forever. The net proceeds will be shared with the Africa Fire Mission, in order to provide the training, skills and resources to firefighters in this Developing nation. Allowing them to have the knowledge and equipment to respond when tragedy strikes. Something many of us take for granted here in the United States and elsewhere. The Sale

50 Images will be sold as NFTs for the price of 800 ada (the cryptocurrency of Cardano), each. As utility, those buying the pictures, will be invited to a virtual conference where they can interact with and ask questions to Ed Walsh to talk about the minutes, days and months following the attack on 9/11.

Furthermore, a series of physical items will be added in a second drop, with the proceeds shared with the Africa Fire Mission. https://www.africafiremission.org/

Following are 5 examples of some of the physical items that will be up in the second drop:

A Cross cut from World Trade Center steel 2001

A handmade cairns FDNY 343 commemorative leather fire 1/2 helmet memorializing the 343 FDNY members lost on 9/11/2001.
